I don't see a problem with them (of course, I have them). I also think the wider your blog, the less noticeable it is...
Fine with me. I would recommend you also change the format of your first page. It is getting too long. I like the way Cross-Currents has a short piece and then click for more. Gil does this as well when the pieces are too large.
