I drove by the store today three times over the span of an hour and the offending pictures were gone. The storefront consists of an empty window.
I don't know if the owner caved to pressure, if they reached an amicable settlement with the yeshiva, or if I drove by during an hour that they were changing their display.
The Wolf
I hope they didn't cave! I hope they didn't cave!
ReplyDeleteThey caved. The pictures were gone from before Shabbos, at the latest.
ReplyDeleteThey caved :(
ReplyDeletewhat is this world coming to?
Might be interesting if they substitute "gedolim" pictures in the window--Maybe of R' Huttner, or of R' Pam or of R' Moshe or R'Soloveichik. Wanna bet the uproar would make the sheitle picture brouhaha fade to nothing?
ReplyDeleteThey could always draw a sheitel on the gedolim's heads ;)..

And the slide to the right gets a bit closer to the edge...
ReplyDeleteThe offending complaining rabbis should be photographed and said photographs photoshopped with the wigs on them and those put in the window alongside the originals with a sign saying "Which would you prefer?"
ReplyDeleteWell, that'll be great advertising: Our empty display window reflects how we think of women: empty!
ReplyDeleteOy...
Judaism lost a serious battle today. That's heartbreaking. Hashem Yiracheim!
ReplyDeleteNew term in Judaism: Wigged out!
ReplyDeleteChalk one up for the Dark Side, folks.
ReplyDeletethe shietel store owner should put Aron Scheter's outstanding hazmonos from Rav Mosha ZT"L in the window.

Years ago I said that the day would come when water would be declared traif. People laugh, but I was right. Here now, and mark this prophecy: The day will come when women will be required to cover at least part of their faces. Men and women who are visiting, even for Shabbos or Yom Tovim will be required to dine at separate tables in their homes.
ReplyDeleteHey I made a comic video in honor of the shietle boycott.
