Pity the Poor Chazan

This shabbos, the chazzan in our shul, during mussaf, mentioned the wrong month during Mevarchim HaChodesh. He started out by saying "Rosh Chodesh Kislev..."

Of course, it's a pretty simple mistake to make. After all (as I heard him explain to someone else later on), with all the talk of Channukah, Kislev gets pounded into your brain. It's very counter-intuitive (although factual, of course) that part of Channukah falls out in Teves as well.

That reminds me of the time the chazzan said "Chaim she-ein ba-hem yiras shamayim ve-yiras cheit."
I almost died laughing. No one else in shul even noticed.

And for his pennance, the Chazzan will now be forced to eat latkes and jelly doughnuts for another month..Can I be chazzan next?

You shouldn't worry about your behavior. Having been a mental health worker who has worked with the Monsey and New Square crowd, There is more than enough inappropriate behavior to go around. They are better separated from their women as they beat them. Is it the separation that causes them to be such prolific users of prostitutes?
