Biting My Tongue

I've tried to make a commitment for the Yomim Noraim to be less knee-jerk reactionary and to try to become more even-tempered and fair in my postings.

Yet, sometimes you run across something that is just so appalling, foul and disgusting that your mind screams out that you have to react.

But I'm holding my tongue. Even though it was totally outrageous and inexcusable, I'm biting my tongue. I'm teaching myself patience. I will not react in a knee-jerk fashion. I will improve over the Yomim Noraim.

The Wolf

(Sorry... I know it's cryptic. It's really more for me than my readers)

I think you're doing fine. I find that it's helpful to understand where posters are coming from. Some BTs (baalei teshuva), recognizing the pitfalls of the secular world they came from, have a tendency to reject everything about it & refuse to admit that there's anything worthwhile there. (Of course this isn't unique to BTs but BTs can be especially vulnerable to this). And for some people, reflexive rejection of the secular world is a way to deal with their own insecurities.

Of course I may be completely off the mark about your post, in which case please disregard what I wrote.

Over the last few weeks or so, I've started then canceled a number of blog comments which could have been seen as denigrating a "gadol" (which I only considered a gadol in Torah knowledge, not in middot or wisdom.) It really didn't add to the discussion in any meaningful way. I find myself mostly venting internally. Fortunately my blood pressure is still reasonably low...
